Fitted Wardrobes FAQ
Of course, the wardrobe depth is absolutely up to you but typically we recommend 685mm / 27” depth for a sliding wardrobe and 610mm / 24” for a hinged wardrobe. In both cases this allows the clothes hanging on a rail not to touch the back of the doors. The slider depth is slightly more to accommodate the top and bottom track but unlike a hinged wardrobe with a slider, you do not need to consider the space required for the door to open.
Unless you particularly specify we do not build your robe with a back panel or a base panel. Unlike a free-standing carcase style wardrobe, our fitted wardrobes are constructed using a front frame supported by battons fixed directly to your wall. A back panel is not required structurally and does not allow the wall to breathe. Bases and backs reduce the internal space and are also a large amount of material that otherwise would be costed in. We would recommend that walls are plastered before we measure up to enable us to get accurate sizing but decorating can be done before or after installation. We are happy to fit onto carpet or floorboards or wooden floors.
Sliding wardrobes are modern and incredibly practical, use space very efficiently, and can incorporate various door designs. The large opening area makes access very easy and each robe is unique with 5 different metal work colours and hundreds of door designs possible, combining coloured glass, mirrors and panels.
Hinged wardrobes are more traditional and timeless, with a selection of classic and modern vinyl-wrapped doors mixed with either integrated or additional handles. There are over 50 colours available to choose from including gloss, painted oak and super matt finishes. Typically sliding robes cost less than a hinged version and gloss finishes are more expensive than matte.

We would always say that fitted wardrobes are the best option. Because they’re custom-built to your requirements, they allow you to maximise space and get the most out of the room. On top of that, they reach all the way to the ceiling, meaning that you won’t have to worry about extra storage or dust gathering on top.
We offer free-standing chests, bedsides and dressing tables but all our wardrobes are fully fitted so built permanently fixed to the wall. It’s very important for your safety that any wardrobe is fixed to the wall to prevent it from falling over.
